Mid-Mountain Materials, Inc. Business Development Director Amulya Das talked with AZoM about the insulation systems they provide and how they can provide customized solutions for a wide range of applications.

Mid-Mountain produces various insulating materials used in a wide range of industries. The many insulation product lines in our factory enable us to be vertically integrated, which gives us the opportunity to provide customers with very innovative solutions.

Mid-Mountain specializes in the production of insulating blankets and coverings for various purposes. These include fire protection, sound insulation, heat insulation and weather protection.

Our insulation system is suitable for various temperature or atmospheric environments. They are very durable and weather resistant, making them ideal for any area that requires frequent maintenance.

Standard applications include heat exchangers, valves, manholes, flanges, pumps, engine manifolds, engine exhaust, exhaust mufflers, turbines, instrument panels and other components, and process piping.

Most of our insulation blankets and covers are detachable and soft. Unlike permanent hard insulation, soft insulation covers have the advantages of being detachable and reusable, making them the insulating material of choice for components that need to be contacted from time to time for maintenance and inspection.

Although removable heat shields are usually one of the last items installed before the facility is put into production, they are key components when it comes to site safety and system stability. Valves, flanges and other uncovered components may cause:

The advantages of our removable heat shield include:

The detachable insulating cover usually consists of 3 layers. Figures 1, 2 and 3 illustrate the structure and materials used in the standard removable insulation cover.

Please note that for more demanding and unique applications, Mid-Mountain offers a wide range of alternative materials and designs. Most of our covers and blankets are custom-designed by our engineers to meet the unique requirements of individual applications.

The main function of heat insulation is to reduce heat transfer. According to the temperature range and environmental conditions, the choice of insulating material is very important and critical.

Our blankets and covers have a high-temperature stitch structure combined with flaps, seals and cutouts for easy access to ports and controls.

Yes, we design and manufacture customized products for our customers.

In addition, we also work with customers to design and implement customized insulation systems for the most unique and complex insulation situations.

We cooperated with our customers to design the muffler cover, diesel engine exhaust cover and the aircraft cover specially designed for us.

At Mid-Mountain, our uniqueness is that we work closely with our customers to find the best solutions for their applications.

If the application is not that complicated, we do have a standard product line, which includes multiple sizes of pipe and valve insulation blankets for dozens of common components.

Mid-Mountain produces a full range of coated fabrics that are resistant to high temperature, chemical corrosion and abrasion.

Various base fabrics can be coated with different types of coatings to create a coated fabric suitable for your application.

In addition to glass fiber and silica fabrics, we can also coat woven and non-woven fabrics, including Nomex®, Kevlar®, and blends of nylon, carbon and aramid.

Many of our standard coated fabrics are manufactured according to various specifications, including ASTM E84, ASTM E162, FAR 25.855 and MIL-PRF-20696F.

We also offer a variety of coated and uncoated fabrics, which are approved by ANSI/FM 4950 for thermal processing applications. Our standard coated fabrics include:

Yes, we look forward to a great deal of development in insulation materials in the near future.

We have been committed to developing advanced materials based on the following factors:

Mid-Mountain is a vertically integrated company, which gives us the opportunity to use a variety of material combinations to achieve the best solution at a very competitive price.

The process of combining different types of insulating materials into a single form creates a hotter, more efficient and more cost-effective solution.
